Our Privacy Practices
Your privacy is important to us. This Notice explains how we manage and safeguard personal data. You should also review our Terms and Conditions before using our Website.
Personal Data We Collect and How We Collect It
Personal data is any information that can identify you directly or that is reasonably linkable to you, including through combination with other data. Examples of the common types of personal data that we collect and use include names, contact details, and information about past bookings. We rely on vendors to process payment card information securely and do not handle it ourselves.
We typically collect personal data either directly from you or passively as you interact with us online, such as when you navigate our Website.
Information You Give Us. Brookshire’s collects any personal data you voluntarily give us. This includes your name and contact details if you create an account with Brookshire’s. If you contact us by phone, email, or any other means, we will also have any personal data you send us in your communication. When you contact Brookshire’s in other ways, you permit us to collect personal data about you and your interests.
Information We Get Passively. Brookshire’s, and vendors we work with, collect data from you when you use our Website. When you use our Website, Brookshire’s may collect technical data about your computer, such as your IP address, device identifier, browser type, operating system, pages you viewed, referral pages, and what you clicked on or searched for. We also collect information about how you interact with our communications, such as whether an email we sent you was opened. When you make purchases from us, we keep a record of your purchase history and interests. When you visit our Museum, you may be captured by our CCTV cameras or in photos. Some of the data we collect passively is personal data.
Personal data does not include deidentified, including aggregated, data. Identifying information has been removed from this type of data so that it cannot be linked to any specific person. Brookshire’s may share deidentified data with other companies to help them understand our customers and their interests as a group.
How We Use Personal Data
We aim to give our Museum visitors a great experience, which means that understanding our visitors is important to us. We use the personal data we collect to:
Make sure you get the products and services you buy or ask for, including by verifying and completing your order, processing your payments, assisting you with returns or exchanges, and assisting with event management and other services you request
Maintain a secure environment for our visitors and employees, such as through video and images of our locations and their surroundings to prevent and investigate crime, and through tools that help us stop online fraud and malicious attacks on our online services
Communicate with you, including by sending you communications about your orders or our services, and marketing communications about products and services we think you will enjoy as well as responding to your customer service requests and questions
Support our business operations and growth, including by monitoring the functionality of our Website, quality control and training of our employees, maintaining our vendor relationships and business partnerships, and for other legal compliance purposes
How We Share Personal Data
We may share personal data within our corporate family of companies and with our professional advisors; with government regulators, law enforcement agencies, or other authorized parties; during corporate transactions involving our business; and with vendors who support Brookshire’s, including payment processors, marketing communications, technology support services, Website developers, social media, analytics providers, and digital advertising services.
Use of Tracking Technologies
The Website may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect some types of data. These tracking technologies help us better understand our visitors, improve or personalize the experience of our online visitors, and also help us with the security and functionality of our Website. You can choose not to allow our tracking technologies, but blocking some of them may prevent you from using our online services.
Opting Out of Cookies Using Self-Regulatory Programs
Self-regulatory programs, such as the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative, are available to help you make choices about the use of tracking technologies on your devices. These programs help to regulate vendors in the digital advertising space. One function of their self-regulatory programs is to give you the ability to opt out of targeted (or interest-based) advertising from their member companies. You can visit the Digital Advertising Alliance Ad Choices website for additional information. The Network Advertising Initiative assists with opt outs through their Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising webpage.
Managing Your Browser Settings
You can disable tracking technologies using your own browser settings. Please review your browser’s instructions or visit www.allaboutcookies.org for general information regarding common browser settings. Note that you can also opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across any websites you use through the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On. Browser-based signals need to be activated through the appropriate settings for each browser you use to access our Website or they will not be uniformly effective.
Your Choices
Opting Out of Our Marketing. You may choose to opt out of receiving direct marketing, commercial emails, and other information from us about our products and services by following the “unsubscribe” instructions contained in any marketing communications we send. Please also note that even if you unsubscribe, we can still send you transactional communications.
Correcting Information. You can update or correct your contact information and other personal data by emailing museum@brookshires.com.
Links to Other Websites and Services
We may share links to other websites and online services, which are not controlled by Brookshire’s. These links are for your information only and do not demonstrate any affiliation with or endorsement by Brookshire’s. Please be aware that this Notice does not apply when you follow these third-party links, and Brookshire’s is not responsible for the personal data you may provide to a third party after following any link. Any personal data you provide to a third party is subject to that party’s privacy practices, which we encourage you to review and understand.
